Roadwork will continue on Kilauea Avenue in Hilo today and Monday, according to the county’s Department of Public Works.

The contractor will be adjusting manhole and utility boxes on Kilauea Avenue between the Aupuni Street intersection ending at the north (Hamakua) end of the Wailoa/Waiakea Stream Bridge.

The adjustment requires the contractor to excavate the asphalt around the manhole and utility box.

Work is scheduled both days for 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Two lanes of traffic, one in each direction, will be available.

Today, work will be on the mauka side on the road. There will be no on-street parking in the construction zone.

On Monday, work will shift to the makai lanes. Street parking should be restored if the contractor is finished with work on the mauka side.

Adjustments to the manhole and utility boxes in the middle of the Kilauea Avenue and Aupuni Street intersection will mean closing the intersection to through traffic.

No turns will be permitted from the intersection while work is underway.

All roadwork will be done weather-permitting.
